What happens during my reflexology session?
Reflexology is a very easy treatment to receive; at most you will be asked to remove your shoes and socks.
At your first visit, I will ask you to sign a consent form agreeing to the treatment, as well as complete an initial client information record. All personal details disclosed, both written and verbal, will remain secure and completely confidential. Please allow up to 1hr and 15 minutes for your initial visit.
Before starting the treatment, I will apply hot towels to your feet to help soothe and prepare the feet for treatment.
I will then use my thumbs, fingers or knuckles to apply pressure to your feet or hands depending on the type of session you are receiving. Some areas of the feet or hands may feel tender when pressed, but this will pass. The session should be a calming experience, which includes a deeply relaxing foot or hand massage at the end of your treatment.
Reflexology recognises that every person is an individual and so it is impossible to know in advance how you will react to a treatment. Some people have reported feeling very relaxed during their reflexology session and may find they sleep better afterwards. You may find that other things improve too, but this is on a very individual basis.
"I sought help from Emma for leg and foot pain caused by a bulging disc in my lower back. The treatment relieves the immediate pain in my foot and by helping me to relax releases tension through my whole body. The treatment is very gentle and non invasive, you can rest or chat depending on how you feel on the day. I feel very relaxed and comfortable with Emma, her treatment room has a very warm atmosphere. The treatment definitely helps with managing the pain and I always leave with an improvement in my overall sense of well-being." Jenny - September 2018
